Hard work pays off for Riley with Under 16 State Side Selection

21 JUN | BY BRENTON WESTELL

Jets Under 16.5 player Riley Davis has had some remarkable success in his footy career thus far. The Henley High student is undertaking the ‘Specialist Sport Football Program’ and came to The Jets as an Under 15 from Lockleys along with brother Jayden who currently plays in the Under 14’s.

Riley’s dad Shane said; “We chose the club as a family because we believed it would be the Best environment for both lads to take their football forward to new levels. We have not been let down and both lads have thrived. Full credit to the club and the environment it provides.”

The most recent feather in Riley’s cap came last week with the announcement of selection in the State Under 16 squad which will see him travel to Perth this weekend (24 June) for a match against Western Australia, then travel to the Gold Coast on the 9 July for a week to play other matches in the AFL national championships.

Riley’s recent football achievements include:
2017 AFL U16 National Championship – selected in SANFL U16 team
2017 Glenelg Football Club, Captain – U16 Squad; premiership team
2016 School Sport Australia Championship, selected in the 15 and Under SA team; silver medallists –Maroochydore, Queensland.

Riley sets a great example for his peers in his commitment to his footy and the preparedness to do the hard yards. Apart from his undoubted skills, endeavour and approach to the way he plays footy, his willingness to listen and learn has played an indispensable role in his successes thus far.

Huge congratulations to Riley and his family, and the club wishes you all the best in the state colours.
