Lachy hands in the keys to the scoreboard...

23 JAN | BY BRENTON WESTELL

Our long serving and dedicated Jet, Lachy Barratt, is handing over the scoreboard numbers after 7 years in the role. Renowned for never getting it wrong, even when the goal umps did, he has found work is starting to compete for his Saturday arvo’s.

Lachy came to us because of a friendship between Life Member Phil Cox and Lachy’s dad Nick (who was a past Club Secretary) and his mum (Megan).

After stepping up to help out as a goal umpire for the reserves, Lachy did the two jobs for a period before going on to be the scoreboard supremo we all know and love.

He was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the club a few years ago for his services, and he also brought in two other mates from Balyana (Andre and Vince) to the club who have been similarly embraced, and who also contribute to our volunteer workforce.

Lachy wants to stress he will still be around the club as often as possible, but the days of enduring the rain and hail are over. Well done on the great effort Lachy and all the best. Look forward to seeing you on the balcony rather than across the oval!
